System cannot generate distributions because tax calculation failed due to error

Module: Payables

Oracle Version: Oracle R12

Error Message:

“APP-SQLAP-97731: The system cannot generate distributions because tax calculation failed due to the following error: &TOKEN1.”

Cause of Issue:

The Projects Account Generator is not passing error information back to the Invoices form if it fails to derive an account from the project information.

Account generator errors are not being returned to the user. Instead, the user receives one of several generic tax errors depending on what action is performed on the invoice (e.g. navigate to distributions, calculate tax, run invoice validation program, etc).

The integration between AP and Projects is incomplete. AP calls a Projects procedure that derives a code combination based on the Project info. If there is an error all that Projects does is return that some error has occurred.

Various bugs address this issue:

Bug 15936785: IN R12 APXINWKB, ACCOUNT GENERATOR ERRORS ARE NOT BEING RETURNED TO USER, GENERI (Projects) and bug 16842904 (Payables) were created to address this specific issue.

Bug 16842904: NO PROPER ERROR MESSAGE IS DISPLAYED WHEN THE USER PRESSES DIST BUTTON.

Bug 17415765: REPL:NO PROPER ERR MSG IS DISPLAYED WHEN THE USER PRESSES DIST BUTTON  (replacement for 17170570/16988064).

After the fix for Bug 17415765 is applied, proper account generator errors will be returned to the user. Message text is being shown in place of the ambiguous ‘TOKEN’.

Solution:

Find the exchange rate used by the ledger and the tax rate being used and ensure the exchange rates had been set up.
